Magic in Bali

“ Wherever I went peace reigned over the land”

The people of Bali are both silent and loud. Silent, because they listen, watch and do not immediately reveal their thoughts and feelings to you. Loud, because they welcome and accept you as you are. I was witness to that many times.

In Hungary it is normal for people to hide their real feelings, but in Bali it is completely different and this opened my heart. I have written this as a token of my gratitude to the family in Bali who have accepted me into their lives and wrote to me “ Your Balinese family have been waiting for you to come home”

My first trip to Bali was quite difficult. In Hungary I was immeasurably tired and the cold Hungarian Autumn had arrived. The temperature was dropping daily and daylight hours shortening. It is very hard for me to live without light. Since I have been a medium the Communication of the light has been an integral and very important part of my life and Spiritualism. The winter months are always difficult for me but I felt this particular winter I must find sun and light or suffer the consequences in Hungary. Whilst in a meditative state I received a message “ Go to the Island of Gods” I caught the first plane to Bali with my mind weighed down with mixed emotions. I was completely ignorant about Balinese culture and did not have a plan or know what to expect. I just knew it was imperative I left Hungary immediately and travelled to Bali.

Arriving in Bali I was shocked and disappointed. It was nothing like I had imagined and wanted to immediately return home. It was loud, hot and the people too familiar. My hopes and dreams were shattered but I did not succumb to these negative thoughts, I had to be there, this is what I wanted so I decided to grasp the opportunity.

I needed to discover and know the Balinese people so I stayed in small family run hotels and tried to meet as many local people as possible because I wanted to truly get to know them. I relied heavily on my thoughts, meditation and inner voices who gave me more and more daily tasks. One day the voice said “ Go and find a taxi driver who will take you to a silversmith, he will know where to go believe me” This is how my partnership with my Balinese family started. We are in regular contact and my heart is longing to go back, it desires to go home.

I now have two different lives. There is a Mara at home in Hungary with a life and daily routine there, but as soon as I step from the plane in Bali I am a completely different Mara. My Hungarian life ceases and I am Balinese body and soul. I plait my hair, kick off my shoes and walk barefooted amongst the Balinese. The bright lights and glamour of the Island does not attract or interest me, I just want to be with the people and where they live. I want to live with them, eat with them and be a part of their culture and life.I can see and feel they accept me more and more and I am becoming closer to them with real feelings behind their smiles.

But let us go back to the Balinese family. There are many silversmith families and signs with “silver” printed on them but why was this particular family chosen? It was because they know the magic and perhaps they are the only ones who know how to transfer healing energies into the jewellery and how to bless the wearer with them. The head of the family is also a magician, a good speaker having worked as a guide and he knows the magic of life. He has met my friends and we can all talk openly with him. He follows the Hindu religion and shares his diverse and wise opinions with us.

Before they start to make the jewellery in this tiny home workshop they connect with the God with a deep prayer from their hearts and ask for their work to be blessed. Then in this transfigured and concentrated state they prepare the healing jewellery and stay connected to the source until the end. I saw many shops in Bali selling jewellery with similar motives but my spiritual leaders would only let me buy from this small shop. It does matter what we wear, what is its vibration, where is it prepared and what is transformed into it.

There are so many beautiful people in Bali who lead a simple life but if you can approach them openly without any inhibitions they will open their hearts to you and let you in.
